Paul Isbell is a writer, researcher, analyst, and strategic consultant. He taught economics and international affairs at Schiller Madrid from 1993 to 1999. He has developed a successful career both as a senior strategic think tank analyst and, as an economic analyst, editor and writer in the financial sector and media.

Current Developments in the Western Balkans & EU Accession Processes

On 1 December 2022, Schiller International University organized an IRD Global Talk on the topic “Current Developments in the Western Balkans & EU Accession Processes”. This talk, given by Dr. Alenka Verbole, explored what the Western Balkans region is, as well as its characteristics and specificities in light of the lengthy EU accession process. Emphasis was laid on developments, challenges, and stakeholders, in the region and beyond, looking at the six countries (WB6) that are Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), and Kosovo**.

Pantelis Karanikolaou graduated from Schiller International University in Madrid, in June 1997 with a double major in Economics and International Relations and Diplomacy. He has developed a successful career in the financial sector working for solution providers and consulting firms in Bangkok, Thailand, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Dublin. Originally from Greece, he currently works in London as a business solution architect at BCM Temenos Offering.
