This course addresses critical thinking skills essential for writing a dissertation or thesis, covering topics such as the basic components of a dissertation/thesis, distinctions between a dissertation and a regular research paper, an overview of quantitative and qualitative methods, constructing a thesis statement, APA formatting style, maintaining academic writing integrity, and ethical considerations in the use of AI in research.

About The SIU Library Department
The SIU Library Department comprises four campus libraries located in Tampa, Madrid, Heidelberg, and Paris, as well as the extensive SIU Digital Library collection boasting over 500,000 digital resources. Both our digital and in-print collections are curated to align with the requirements of our undergraduate and graduate programs. Having immersed myself in the Tampa Bay area for nearly two decades, I've come to appreciate all it has to offer. I earned my Master of Library & Information Science from the University of South Florida in Tampa. Over the years, I've contributed to various libraries, spanning school, public, and academic domains. Currently calling St. Petersburg, FL, home, I share my space with my husband and our rescue dog, Hope.

I have a Bachelor in English Studies and Civilizations, a DUT and M.A. in Information Communication (for Documentary Information Centers) and a Master’s in Information Communication specialized in Documentary Engineering.
I have worked as a private teacher, a project researcher, and a documentalist/researcher/ journalist in a local newspaper (which I still do when I have availability).
I have lived in many places, including a few months in England and seven years in Spain. I now live in Reims and I still love travelling. I have a passion for information and research.

Hello everyone!
My name is Verónica Ludeña, and I was born and raised in Madrid, though I have studied English from when I was only three years old.
I am a graduate of Library and Information Science from the Universidad Carlos III in Madrid and I hold a Master's degree in Audiovisual Documentation, also from the Universidad Carlos III.
My professional journey has led me through some very interesting positions, including working on television channels producing TV shows, as well as various university, and even children's libraries.
In my free time, as a good librarian, I love reading; Agatha Christie is one of my favorite authors. Also, I enjoy travelling, watching TV shows, and movies.

Hello, my name is Professor Gerhard Bleifuss. I have been teaching at Schiller International University since 1997. I hold a Dr. Phil. degree, equivalent to a PhD, from the University of Mannheim in Germany, with majors in modern history and English literature.
Additionally, I have taught at the European Study Center in Heidelberg and served as a freelance instructor for Biola University. Currently, I am also serving as the interim Heidelberg Campus Librarian and am ready to assist you with your informational and research needs.
