Alumni Spotlight: Igor Peric

Today we seat down with Igor Peric who, as an alumni of Schiller International University, reflects on his transformative journey from a Master's student in International Relations and Diplomacy to a pivotal role as the Special Advisor to the First Deputy Prime Minister at the Government of the Republic of Serbia. Peric, who attended Schiller's Paris campus from April 2004 to December 2005, attributes his professional prowess to the robust education and dynamic experiences he garnered at the university.


Igor Peric's career path is impressive as he has made his way through the complex world of government administration with skill. Thanks to his strong background in international cooperation, EU integration, and foreign and security policy, he's been able to handle his responsibilities well. In this interview, he appreciates how Schiller helped him develop his skills in strategic planning and project management.

The Schiller spirit, as Peric recalls, was a blend of familiar warmth and professional rigor, encapsulated by the compassionate guidance of Souha Akkiki, Paris campus director at the time. The camaraderie amongst classmates and the nurturing yet challenging environment created by the faculty were instrumental in shaping not just his career but his approach to life and decision-making. He advises future students to balance academic life with socializing with the multicultural friends they will make at Schiller, which they will remember for the rest of their lives.

Can you tell us about your professionaly trajectory and what you do today?

I work as Special Advisor to the First Deputy Prime Minister, I am currently in charge for Advising and Coordination of International cooperation, EU integration and  developing projects, in the field of Foreign and Security Policy.

 Generally, I could describe myself and my career so far, as an experienced international financial adviser and project manager with a demonstrated history of working and managing different positions in the government administration industry. Skilled in Coaching, Government, International Relations, Strategic Planning, and Project Management.

How did you discover Schiller?

It was strongly recommended to me by couple of friends who were attending it, too.

Can you share some of your fondest memories from your time at Schiller International University?

Schiller always built a strong relations between students and lecturers. They were doing their best to make us learn important things in a specific and interesting ways. All that surely left us a lots of great memories to remember.

How would you describe the spirit and culture of Schiller during your years on campus?

Classmates were like family to me, our Campus was nice and warm, professors were strict but fair and a head of Campus Mme Souha Akkiki was a true friend and a great professional as well.

Who do you remember the most from your Schiller years (classmates, faculty or staff)?

Definetely, all of them…

Impact of Schiller Education:

How has your education at Schiller played a role in your life since graduation?

By graduating Schiller, I gained additional confidence in myself and to the level of knowledge that I possess. So, today, thanks to all that, I can perform even the most complex jobs in the Government.

What do you consider to be the most valuable aspect of your Schiller experience?

The way I developed my way of thinking and decision making.

Advice to Current Students:

What advice would you give to current students to help them make the most of their Schiller experience?

Let them try to be smart enough to acquire all the knowledge and experience that Schiller offers them, and at the same time remain focused on socializing and having a good time, which will certainly remain in their memories for the rest of their lives.
