Alumni Spotlight: Abdul Malik Bismal

Abdul Malik Bismal graduated from Schiller Heidelberg in 2023 with an MBA in International Business. He works as Logistics Assistant at Decathlon Germany and as a freelance consultant in management and operations. He speaks English, German, Dari, Pashto and Urdo.

How did you get to Schiller?

I pursued an MBA in international business with dual certification and a double diploma at the Schiller Campus in Heidelberg. Beginning my studies in 2021, I recently graduated in June, and I am thrilled to share that I have secured a full-time position with one of the largest international logistical firms in the region. Alongside this, I also provide consultation services in the areas of operation, management, and productivity. Prior to this role, I worked as a freelancer for a year, during which my time at SIU played a pivotal role in equipping me with specialized technical knowledge from expert sources and practical applications for real-world business scenarios.

How did you find your job? 

During my time at SIU, I benefited from their exceptional career advisory service, which offered valuable insights on optimizing my LinkedIn profile to attract potential employers and clients. I diligently followed the guidelines provided, and as luck would have it, in 2022, a company reached out to me, leading to the commencement of my freelance work. One aspect that makes my professional profile intriguing is the possession of an international dual degree, comprising both an American and European diploma. This distinctive combination has undoubtedly opened doors for exciting opportunities in my career journey.

How was the experience at the Schiller University Campus in Heidelberg? 

The experience at the Schiller University Campus in Heidelberg was very positive. The Campus provided a dedicated student council, a supportive career advisor, and a helpful reception staff always ready to address any questions and provide assistance. Whenever I encountered challenges, whether related to visa processes, studies, examinations, or fees, I received prompt and effective solutions or alternatives.

One aspect that truly sets Schiller apart is its commitment to offering individualized consultations with experts in various fields. This personalized approach ensures that students receive tailored guidance and alternative solutions whenever needed, enhancing the overall learning experience.

The unique opportunity to travel to one of the other Schiller campuses for a semester presented an unparalleled experience. It felt like being part of a global community without limitations or restrictions, broadening my horizons and enriching my perspective.

My time at Schiller has had a significant impact on my career journey. The expertise and life experiences shared by the professors and the camaraderie with fellow students have been invaluable in shaping my professional growth and life trajectory.

How has Schiller impacted your career?

I remember a specific instance during my time at SIU when I was tasked with writing a paper on a subject in the field of business, marketing, or operation management. The knowledge and skills I gained at Schiller proved to be immensely beneficial because the very next day, I found myself effortlessly applying the concepts I learned in class to real-life situations. It was remarkable to witness how seamlessly the knowledge translated into practical use.

My passion has always been in the realm of international business, as it provides valuable insights into leadership and decision-making processes. This program has been instrumental in teaching me how to foster organizational growth and sustainability. It has been a journey of continuous learning and understanding, preparing me to navigate the complexities of the business world with confidence.

Though you may miss your previous home initially, their support and resources will help you quickly adjust and settle in.
