About The SIU Library Department
The SIU Library Department comprises four campus libraries located in Tampa, Madrid, Heidelberg, and Paris, as well as the extensive SIU Digital Library collection boasting over 500,000 digital resources. Both our digital and in-print collections are curated to align with the requirements of our undergraduate and graduate programs. Our Library Department maintains an organizational page within the Blackboard platform, accessible to all active students.

We have a team of four dedicated academic librarians available to provide guidance and support throughout your academic journey with us. Our services encompass a wide range of academic support, including access to tutoring through Tutor.com, assistance in developing critical thinking and information literacy skills, and various other academic outreach programs.
Our Local Library Spaces
Located on the fifth floor of our Madrid campus, you will have access to 5 computer workstations as well as 3 meeting rooms for group projects and study sessions.
The library at the Paris Campus is an essential component of the amenities offered. We encourage you to visit and discover the diverse collection it has to offer.

Library Information Literacy Courses
- LIB101 – Information Literacy Course (New Intakes)
Complimentary non-credit information literacy course, offered as an academic service by the SIU Library Department team, is available for all new students. The course covers essential topics related to critical thinking skills, including research fundamentals, strategies to avoid plagiarism, paraphrasing techniques, APA formatting style, and ethical considerations in AI usage within the research process.
- LIB102 – Information Literacy Course (Dissertation)
A complimentary, non-credit information literacy course, provided as an academic service by the SIU Library Department team, is accessible to students embarking on the dissertation process. This course addresses critical thinking skills essential for writing a dissertation or thesis, covering topics such as the basic components of a dissertation/thesis, distinctions between a dissertation and a regular research paper, an overview of quantitative and qualitative methods, constructing a thesis statement, APA formatting style, maintaining academic writing integrity, and ethical considerations in the use of AI in research.
- LIB103 – Information Literacy Course (Current Students)
Complimentary non-credit information literacy course, offered as an academic service by the SIU Library Department team, is available for all current students in need of an academic boost. The course covers essential topics related to critical thinking skills, including research fundamentals, strategies to avoid plagiarism, paraphrasing techniques, APA formatting style, and ethical considerations in AI usage within the research process.
In-Classroom Library Visits
We will be making regular visits to your classrooms to remind you about the APA citation system, how it works, and what are the steps to uphold proper academic integrity during your research for various projects.

General Library Policies
The Library Department includes collections catered to the needs of undergraduate and graduate programs. Local print collections are accessible in your campus library; if you wish to peruse in-print books, please visit your Campus Library. Our digital collection is available on the SIU Digital Library page in Blackboard, accessible to all active students. The databases include content from ProQuest, Gale Cengage, and others; we also grant faculty access to the Harvard Business Publishing catalog of resources.
Local Print Collections
Most items within the local campus libraries print collections, unless noted as “Lib Use Only” or placed on reserves, are available for borrowing by library patrons.

With a digital collection containing over 500,000 digital items for all programs, this collection is accessible to all users via the SIU Digital Library in Blackboard. All Cengage & ProQuest databases are housed in the LIRN tab Library & Information Resources Network tab.

My name is Vilma. I am your Global Librarian, based in Tampa, Florida, with a commitment to serving all our campuses worldwide.
Having immersed myself in the Tampa Bay area for nearly two decades, I've come to appreciate all it has to offer. I earned my Master of Library & Information Science from the University of South Florida in Tampa. Over the years, I've contributed to various libraries, spanning school, public, and academic domains. Currently calling St. Petersburg, FL, home, I share my space with my husband and our rescue dog, Hope.
My interests include beaches, culinary adventures in cooking and baking for loved ones, and savoring a good cup of coffee. Fueled by a passion for knowledge and research, I eagerly anticipate collaborating with you to achieve your academic goals.

My name is Verónica Ludeña, and I was born and raised in Madrid, though I have studied English from when I was only three years old.
I am a graduate of Library and Information Science from the Universidad Carlos III in Madrid and I hold a Master's degree in Audiovisual Documentation, also from the Universidad Carlos III.
My professional journey has led me through some very interesting positions, including working on television channels producing TV shows, as well as various university, and even children's libraries.
In my free time, as a good librarian, I love reading; Agatha Christie is one of my favorite authors. Also, I enjoy travelling, watching TV shows, and movies.

Hello, I am Odile, the Paris Campus Librarian for Schiller International University!
I have a Bachelor in English Studies and Civilizations, a DUT and M.A. in Information Communication (for Documentary Information Centers) and a Master’s in Information Communication specialized in Documentary Engineering.
I have worked as a private teacher, a project researcher, and a documentalist/researcher/ journalist in a local newspaper (which I still do when I have availability).
I have lived in many places, including a few months in England and seven years in Spain. I now live in Reims and I still love travelling. I have a passion for information and research.
