Bachelor’s Degree in Computational and Applied Mathematics

In the Bachelor of Science in Computational and Applied Mathematics students will receive a solid foundation for a variety of computing careers, learning to solve technical problems, propose solutions and apply design and development principles to software systems within a global context. They will acquire critical and creative thinking as well as effective multicultural communication.

Graduates of the Bachelor’s Degree in Computational and Applied Mathematics will be able to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge in both computer science and statistical data analysis techniques utilized in scientific and business decision-making. 
  • Have broad knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, methods, and techniques for data storage, integration, handling, and processing. 
  • Extract, visualize, curate, and prepare data for use with a variety of statistical methods and models and recognize how the quality of the data and the means of data collection may affect conclusions. 
  • Design and implement efficient, data-driven solutions to real-world problems thanks to their statistical, software engineering, and machine learning skills. 
  • Be competent in applying principles of Data Science with an interdisciplinary perspective to business challenges, formulating and using appropriate models of data analysis to find hidden solutions, including an ethically responsible approach. 
  • Integrate transferrable skills in oral and written communication, teamwork, guided learning, and independent study. 
  • Foster scholarship and applied integrative research in the fields related to Computational Applied Mathematics with a special focus on Data Science.
